Senior Development Manager - Risk Intelligence Workflows

This role of Development Manager is within the Risk Intelligence business of LSEG. The group builds technology platforms supporting key products including Connected Risk, WorldCheck, and products in the Risk Managed Services space. You will be accountable for the delivery of business value to our internal partners across LSEG – Technology, Service, Office of the CTO, and Product/Proposition teams, through end to end delivery of initiatives and projects to bring new products or capabilities to market, or implementing large scale change to existing products or infrastructures.
Main Responsibilities / Accountabilities:
  • Technical delivery - supports the Director of Technology on all aspects of the delivery chain and leads delivery performance throughout execution. Identifies opportunities to optimize the execution, working with other key technologists to set technical strategy.
  • Risk Management - exhibits strong ability to identify and plan resolution of program risks
  • Communication - works in partnership with our internal customers, provides visibility and clarity so that appropriate action can be taken by senior management, build links and ensure strong communication plans, both within and externally to the group, and with 3rd parties
  • Improving delivery performance - Identifies and recommends opportunities for improving the delivery model by analyzing consistent themes in lessons learned information
  • Problem solving and decision making - sound judgement at a senior management level using assertiveness and influencing skills to demonstrate business benefits and to ensure the decision is fully understood and accepted
  • Dependency management - Leads analysis and ensures all impacts of dependencies are addressed in the overall project plan. Effectively works across the organization to ensure all dependent teams are aligned with the schedule
  • Resource Estimation and Planning – Ensure program plans are kept up-to-date and adjusted with ongoing project activities and maintaining accurate project forecasts.
  • Appropriately identifies when program/project is "off track" to project plans and takes immediate corrective actions, including adjusting plans to account for corrections. Leads project estimating sessions that span multiple departments and organizations.
  • Team Management - Set and effectively communicate team and department goals and objectives. Provide frequent, clear feedback to development team members. Create environment and culture to aid the development teams in practicing the core agile principles of teamwork, prioritization, team accountability, and visibility. Ensure team members have the technical skills and training to accomplish software development goals.
Skills/Experience Required:
  • Lead teams to define, scope, and deliver large initiatives typically less than 5M in value, of a global reach and 12 months duration, within the constraints of scope, time and cost to agreed levels of quality, within the organization’s project management framework.
  • Background in product and development life-cycles - across product definition, software development, production implementation and support operations. Robust experience applying Agile software development methodologies, values, and procedures.
  • Accomplished technologist with previous success delivering platforms or products in a wide range of technology platforms/languages/subject areas.
  • Defines, documents and runs initiatives with minimal direction, leading and working with multiple teams that may have differing priorities and working/cultural practices.
  • Leads teams and actively participates in all phases programs of work or specific phases of larger projects. Identifies, assesses and handles risks to the success of the project
  • Optimally lead teams , build collaborative partnerships with partners, and dedication to make decisions
  • Proactively seeks opportunities for process improvement
  • Estimates costs, timescales and resource requirements for the successful completion of each project to agreed scope and constraints.
  • Prepares and maintains delivery plans and tracks activities against the plan
  • Implement effective communication plan and operating rhythm, including provision of regular and accurate reports.
  • Monitors costs, timescales and resources used, and takes action where these deviate from agreed tolerances. Ensures that results are implemented within these criteria
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills with a high attention to detail
  • Experience working with enterprise workflow tools, including workflow design, UI development and integration with other systems
Skills/Experience Desired:
  • Experience working in a software development environment in platform and or product development
  • Certification or Management qualification or affiliation with professional management organization
  • Experience working within a global organization with a track record of being able to set priorities and respond to changes rapidly
  • Experience working in a dynamic, fast-paced corporate environment with a distributed team
  • Positive attitude and high energy level with an ability to work collaboratively and build relationships at all levels within an organization.
